Chronological feeds vs. engagement-ranked feeds
A chronological feed lists posts in time order from sources you follow. An engagement-ranked feed reorders posts to maximize clicks, reactions, or time spent — often using behavioral signals.
Chronological
When a feed is chronological, newer posts from the people or topics you follow appear after older ones. What you chose to follow determines the pool of content; time determines the order.
Engagement-ranked
Engagement-ranked feeds insert, boost, or bury posts based on predicted interest or outrage. That can surface content from accounts you do not follow and keep you scrolling longer.
Ranking systems are not always labeled “algorithms” in the UI, but they change order beyond simple time.
Shore on Conch
Shore’s Following and Topics experiences are chronological. Discover is for exploring public content and is not described as behavioral personalization. Conch does not build behavioral advertising profiles from Shore activity.
