End-to-end encryption
Private messages on Conch are end-to-end encrypted by default. Here is what that means in practice — without overselling what any technology can guarantee.
Message content is encrypted
End-to-end encryption means message content is encrypted on your device before it is sent. Only intended recipients can decrypt it. Conch cannot read the plaintext content of those messages.
Metadata still exists
Encryption protects content, not all information about a conversation. Conch still processes metadata such as sender, recipient, and timestamps to deliver messages. We describe this clearly in our Privacy Policy.
Default, not optional
You do not need to enable a special mode for encrypted messaging on Conch. Private messaging uses end-to-end encryption by default.
