Private messaging
Conch messaging is built for everyday conversations — direct messages, group chats, voice notes, and file sharing — without behavioral advertising or selling personal data. Core messaging is included on the free Hermit plan.
Messaging designed for privacy
Private messages on Conch are end-to-end encrypted by default. That means message content is encrypted on your device before it is sent, and Conch cannot read it.
Conch still processes limited metadata — such as who sent a message and when — because that information is required to deliver messages reliably.
What you can do
Hermit (free) and paid plans include:
- One-to-one and group conversations with end-to-end encryption
- Voice messages and media sharing
- Communities for ongoing group discussions
- No behavioral advertising in messaging
How this differs from ad-supported chat apps
Many free messaging apps are funded by advertising or data-driven business models. Conch offers a free Hermit tier and optional paid plans (Shell, Conch+) so the product is not funded by behavioral advertising or selling personal data.
